California incorporates the lowest point in the continental US to the highest peak in America with beautiful farm and wine country in between. California apartment rentals run the gamut in price and style, depending on where you decide to drop roots. There is really something for everyone if you know what you want and also if you know where to look. Since all cities comprise diverse neighborhood mixes and attractions a little planning is in order to successful find the right apartment. Do some research prior to your move into the neighborhoods and city. Select a few options and then do in person visits to narrow it down to one choice.

San Francisco is the city by the bay, famous for its restaurants, Victorian architecture, cable cars and fog covering the Golden Gate Bridge. This is one city where you can get around without a car because of the excellent public transportation system. If you do own a car, parking can be difficult, so you may want to look for apartments with parking or maybe located in outlying neighborhoods, rather than the city proper. This city sits on 43 hills offering spectacular views no matter where you decide to live. One thing to understand is that San Francisco has the highest cost of living in America, meaning San Francisco rents are as steep as the hills where rests the city.

Home to Hollywood, Los Angeles is more than beaches and wall to wall movie stars and their groupies. This city is just the opposite of San Francisco, because no matter where you decide to apartmentt hunt in Los Angeles, you will need a car. There are buses and a subway system to boot, but you still need your own transportation to get around. Los Angeles apartments consist of lofts and luxury apartments in the downtown area. West Hollywood features a mix of affordable and expensive apartments and sublets. It is also home to the city's gay and lesbian community. If you're looking for an alternative then maybe Santa Monica or Venice on the Pacific would be more to your liking.

Cheaper rents can be found in the San Fernando Valley, as well as a more suburban lifestyle. The Valley, as it is called by natives, has been described as a cross between a quiet neighborhood and a beach community. Reasonable California apartments can be found in South Bay, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach.
