San Jose is the original silicon valley in America. This is the name applied to the 30 mile area surrounding the city of San Jose. According to a community survey on community life in this area, the locals say they love their community and wouldn’t leave it ever. 70% of those surveyed rated the quality of life as good or better. More than 90% said they feel safe from crime. In fact, the FBI rates San Jose as the safest big city in America. It is also considered the third most fun city in which to live and work according to Money Magazine. Couple that with a mild year round climate and you really can’t go wrong. San Jose is a few hours from Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park as well as beautiful Monterey.
Most of the affordable apartments are centered around San Jose State University. You will also find apartments for rent in the South Bay communities, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. In addition you may also want to investigate the smaller communitiess of Milpitas, Campbell and Gilroy.
